To achieve a flawless face you must start with a perfectly clean slate. Make sure all old makeup is completely removed from your face. I would suggest even exfoliating your face once or twice a week to remove all dead skin and clean out your pores. Once you have achieved that step you should apply a face primer. Currently I am using Prestige Camera Ready - I also recommend Revlon's face primer. Once you have applied that you should move on to applying your foundation. It is best to use either a stippling brush or a flat top brush and blending in circular motions outward. That will lower your chances of streaking or blotchiness.
This is the step that confuses most people... There are two different types of concealers: an under eye and a blemish concealer. The difference between the two is that one is thicker and one is more watery. If you were to apply a thick consistency concealer to under your eye it would give you a very heavy, crackling look. Under your eyes is where you have the most creasing - therefore a lighter concealer would conceal without creating a heavy unnatural look. I use the Maybelline FITme concealer - it's light and so easy to apply. On my blemishes I use the Milani Concealer; it is just heavy enough to conceal my imperfections.

I hope this helps explaining to you guys how to achieve a really natural flawless look without spending SO much money on department store makeup!
